Hi there --

If there’s one thing I’d want you to know about me, it’s this: I didn’t choose painting. It chose me. I have an internal push inside of me; a light that wants to be expressed -- and the only way to let it speak is through painting.

I began painting seriously in high school, when I was blessed to be in one of the best art programs in the country thanks to the talent, insight, and inspiration of my teacher, Dick Trick. I am grateful for that Lowville art program each and every day -- for bringing out the best in every artist, and for particularly seeing the light in me.

I’ve continued to see the light in the nature, people, and places surrounding me each day since, finding my style largely influenced by French impressionists like Monet and Van Gogh who masterfully captured both light and color.

With such influences, my ever-evolving style has grown into a looser approach that allows you to take what you can and tell your own story.

I’ve worked for over two decades as a graphic designer bringing brands to life, with painting curiously persisting as my passion, my creative outlet, and my healing spirit throughout.

As a painter, I have been fortunate to work with a group of artists at the Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery for the past 15 years, and was accepted in the Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition for three consecutive festivals. I’ve discovered a newfound love of teaching painting students with various levels of experience, and am blessed to be a part of associations like the American Impressionist Society, Inc., American Women Artists, and Oil Painters of America.

Painting is expression. Painting is meditation. Painting is healing. Painting, for me, is living.

While I dream of one day residing in a small, hilltop villa on the Mediterranean where I paint the seascapes as the hours slip by, for now, I paint in my home studio in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State, with frequent trips to the Adirondacks, and various, more exotic trips spread throughout the year.

What comes out on the canvas is begging to be told, to be expressed, to be given life. I hope you find your story in the one that speaks to you.

To light, healing, and art -

Cindy
